Bored to Death

Everyone here knows GG Allins music was good once, right? Unfortunately, he's most famous for sticking hotdogs in his butt and going caca on stage, but there was a time when he produced good music. His later, more infamous years are marked with nearly unlistenable aural garbage. Show me a man who says "Suck My Ass, It Smells" is worth anything more than a giggle at the lyrics and I'll show you a liar. It seems like somehow he made peace with his youthful insecurities in his older age by becoming a self-mocking, walking, shitting, vomiting freakshow. It's sad, cuz his early shit rips like Teenage Head or something off Yes LA. He should have just stuck to the melodic, snotty Jabbers stuff. He'd probably be alive now and have his own show on VH1.

Seriously, where the hell have you "Skull Kontrollers" been? You make this stuff seem like it's breaking news or that you've discovered a super obscure band. Yawn.

Yeah "Yawn" -- astute comments here, nice to see/read the record straightened a tad for those who might be largely clueless on GG -- much less the Jabbers -- and if they do know, could use a dose of history/perspective on how King Scumfuc wasn't/ain't so rad, when/if ya think about it, and esp'ly when you compare him to actual good stuff he did early on.

An Iggy wanna-be back then, sure, but a good one, better than Stiv Bators ...

Altho, to be fair, I've never heard any raw demos-y stuff from early Stiv to properly compare, and if GG and the Jabbers had ever been signed, recorded, produced like the Dead Boys were, might not be any better.

Too bad there is no definitive Jabbers release, eh?
The one I had/have(?) was a tape of a bud's ripping green-covered boot of collected 1977-ish live/demos/etc. ...

All this/that said -- yes, it was a bizarrely entertaining spetacle to see GG and the Murder Junkies play the Spirit in 1991 (?); even more so after having the opp'ty to preview it in a SD Reader "Of Note" that week (si, cabron: opp'ty realized).

Stampone, you hit the nail on the head with the GG/Stiv thing. He's better than Stiv (or could have been maybe)! Have you heard Frankenstein? Pretty sure it's Stiv pre-dead boys and it's not so hot. It's not terrible, but the Jabbers destroy it. In Frankenstein's defense, I think it was like '75 or something, but still...
