Art Fag Recordings Mailing List

2009 was a great year for us here at Art Fag Recordings. Three records we're really proud of, Ye Olde Maids LP, the 4 way split 7" and of course Best Coast's debut 7" all came out and to a great response. Admittedly, things at times got disorganized and we found it tough to to keep up and communicate properly. A lot has been worked out in order to organize better and things should be running far smoother this year. One thing we have now is a mailing list. Mailing list members will receive updates on all releases as they come in. When we have a new record ready, a repress ready, or when things are about to sell out an email will be sent. Mailing list members will always get first dibs on records one to two weeks before shops, regular mail order and distribution. To become part of the Art Fag Recordings mailing list please write to and write MAILING LIST in the subject line. You'll be added and on your way to a far more enjoyable life. 2010!

Media Day For Beaters, Dum Dum Girls & Woven Bones

So today was like media day for all the affiliates. Dum Dums, Woven Bones, and Beaters all got a lil' piece of hype. Cool.

Woven Bones did a "Quit Your Day Job feature on Stereogum and you can peep it
here. Also, look out for the new repress of their 12" on Zoo Music. It's gonna be on clear vinyl and it's coming soon.

Beaters' second 7" is now out on Zoo Music and you can read about it all on Stereogum
here, then you can show som respect nd buy it at Zoo Music here. There's like 500 or a thousand or something. Whatever it is, it's a tiny number. Go see them play with Soft Pack on a US tour soon, go get the dates here.

Lastly, Dum DUm Girls were featured today on the Pitchfork Rising thing. You can read a nice lengthy interview with Dee Dee

Vivian Girls + Best Coast + Dunes + San Diego = FUN

What in the HELL is up with this night, right? It's perfect and fun and it's in San Diego Feb 4. Vivian Girls is one of the best groops of the last couple years, every record/song they've put out has been tops. My love for Best Coast goes w/o saying. A big part of Art Fag Recordings' wild and fun 2009, Best Coast always knocks everyone's socks clear off. Dunes is (along with Pearl Harbor) the most happening new shit in Los Angeles. Art Fag is releasing a 7" in 2010 and we're kinda ecstatic. Between groops you'll be listening to punk rippers and oldies magic. $10. You can get tix here, and maybe you should cuz you never know...

San Diego's Casbah Turns 21 / Partytime

Flier by Anthony Gerace/Friends Explode

This coming Wednesday, The Casbah, San DIego's finest and most famous joint is celebrating it's 21st birthday. Art Fag Recordings and The Casbah have come together to put together a night of extreme fun. Christmas Island, Beaters, Heavy Hawaii and Nude Boy are all playing. That's like the raddest bullshit ever, but for extra added bonus, DJs Brandon Welchez, Charles Rowell and Mario Orduno (me) are playing all kinds of noise & junk between bands. It costs 6 dollars. Starts at 8:30. If you're in the Southern California area come say hello and help celebrate or whatever.

New Pearl Harbor Jams And Dates

New Pearl Harbor jams are up on their Myspace thing. 'Slivers Of You (demo)' and 'Hubbsian Lament (Can't Take U Anywhere)'. They're tight and I love them but go see for yourself. There are also new dates added and I've posted them below.

Dum Dum Girls 7" Due Soon

Here's the cover of the new Dum Dum Girls 7" due out on Sub Pop February 16 with non album B side, Play With Fire. The Jail La La version on the album and single is so perfect you'll be in disbelief, mouth agape, straight trippin'.

Annette & The Beach Boys - Monkey's Uncle

Yesterday I bought this cool 80's comp, Annette Funicello's Best Of. You know, that beachy, teeny girl from the movies? She's all girl groupy and silly? Anyway, I had never heard this jam she did with The Beach Boys and it's super cool. It's sandy, bubbly, California GOLD from 1964. So check it below if you want.
